For almost forty years the Lowy Group has been providing business and leisure travellers with class leading standards of service and quality accommodation in the UK.

The Lowy Group own and operate hotels to suit all budgets, manages high-specification serviced apartments for the more discerning traveller, and has years of experience in the provision of accommodation and support services for educational groups visiting the UK and Europe.

Having built an enviable reputation in the hotels and managed accommodation sectors of the market the company has also established a burgeoning property development business. With particular experience of the hotels and leisure sectors, Lowy Group Property Development works frequently, but not exclusively, in those markets using its operational knowledge for the benefit of client development, and also for the expansion of its own leisure property portfolio. The strategic and sustained growth of the business has helped the Lowy Group to become one of the UK’s most dynamic leisure sector companies and one of the industry’s standard bearers for service and quality.

In 1973, when Group Chairman and founder, Peter Lowy, purchased the Vienna Hotel in London’s Maida Vale, the first seeds of the original Vienna Group were sown. Now, almost forty years later, the single hotel operation has developed into a major hotel and leisure group with an enviable hotels portfolio and specialist travel services division. In 2009 the Group took on a new corporate identity, reflecting its history and its more diverse business activities.

The Lowy Group, as it is now known, developed its core hotel base in the UK’s Capital with the acquisition of Umi London, Bayswater and the Burns Hotel, Earls Court. In 2000, its first foray outside London resulted in the Group purchase of the Kings Hotel in the popular southern coastal resort of Brighton. In the four years following, the business added the equally impressive seafront Queens, Umi Brighton and Best Western Brighton Hotels to establish itself as one of the most prominent hotel operators in a leading British holiday destination.

Subsidiary companies, Anglo Educational Services and Access Accommodation, reflect the Group’s diversification and its broad experience of the provision of travel, academic support and specialist accommodation services. As the name suggests, Anglo Educational Services provides American university groups with accommodation and academic support during their semester programmes in the UK from their Study Centre based in Bloomsbury, London. Access Accommodation is a housing provider for the growing number of language schools. Both companies are equipped to provide the education sector and youth markets with a varied choice of affordable accommodation in London, reflecting the quality and standards of the Lowy Group’s hotel and apartment businesses.

Lowy Hotel Solutions

Lowy Group looks for acquisition and hotel management opportunities

Lowy Hotel Solutions, a division of the Lowy Group (formerly the Vienna Hotel Group) is seeking opportunities to lease, manage or acquire hotels.

Over the past four years and through the UK recession, Lowy Hotel Solutions (LHS) has increased the aggregate Net Operating Profits of the six hotels it currently operates by 125%. It has done this through a combination of;

  • Maximising revenue yields
  • Controlling costs
  • Improving operational efficiencies

LHS is confident in its abilities to apply the same formula to other hotels, revitalising them, improving their profitability and therefore maximising the asset value for the owner. Whether under a lease or a management agreement, LHS can provide a sustainable and secure future for hotel properties.

Unlike traditional management or lease agreements, LHS offers an incentivised ‘Flexilease’. This has been drafted in conjunction with Christie & Co and Field Fisher Waterhouse and offers a structure to landlords, owners and administrators that provides a secure route to income and value enhancement. Key points of the “Flexilease” include:

  • Guaranteed rental income
  • Additional success-related rent
  • Variable lease length (minimum term 3 years)
  • Landlord break options

The lease offer is flexible enough to be tailored to meet specific short, medium and long term objectives.

Established in 1973, the Lowy Group has proven experience of operating both branded and unbranded hotels in the regions as well as in London, so owners can be confident that they are making the right choice by selecting Lowy Hotel Solutions as their hotel operator.

Simon Perkins, MD of Lowy Group went into more detail about what the company are ideally looking for. He said “hotels with over 100 bedrooms that are located within two hours of London or anywhere along the south coast are of particular interest. The LHS team are passionate about helping hotels in our portfolio succeed within their individual competitive marketplaces.”

To discuss any opportunities with Lowy Hotel Solutions or find out more about Flexilease please contact Simon Perkins via simon@lowygroup.com or on 020 7792 6674.
